This teaching guide consists of sixteen tips to tech all residents and students regarding the proper prescribing of controlled prescription drugs. Each tip is organized by teaching tip, learner objective, possible teaching strategies and learner competencies for assessing early prescribers on proper prescribing practices. This guide is based on clinical and federal guidelines and was developed to train early learners proper prescribing techniques. Our team developed these tips based on thirty years of teaching physicians proper prescribing.

The FWC and the CPH are devoted to providing educational materials for Vanderbilt faculty and physicians. The purpose of developing these materials is to instruct and prepare physicians, scientists and trainees on professionalism and professional health related topics. Ultimately our goal is to prevent our faculty and trainees from encountering lapses in professionalism while enjoying a healthy, well-balanced career in healthcare.
Materials may be printed and used for further education of faculty and physicians at all levels in their career. Within our educational materials you will find readings, self-learning modules, and lists of external resources that may be of interest to you. Portfolios are used alone or within a given departmental presentation. Several specialties are already prepared and available for use (portfolios for women physicians, scientists, anesthesiologists, internal medicine, residents, etc.) |
