Professional bio

Dr. Bahrani is a native Texan, who graduated from Rice University and obtained her MD with Honors from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX. She then completed her Internal Medicine internship at Mount Auburn Hospital with Harvard Medical School before starting her Dermatology residency at the University of California San Francisco (UCSF). Following residency, Dr. Bahrani completed additional subspecialty training in Dermatopathology at Stanford University in Palo Alto, CA, and is board certified in both Dermatology and Dermatopathology.  Dr. Bahrani was an Assistant Professor of Dermatology and Dermatopathology at UCSF prior to joining VUMC and received the Faculty Teaching Award from the UCSF Dermatology residency in 2022. 

Dr. Bahrani is interested in general dermatology and sees adults and adolescents in her clinics. She also interprets and reads dermatopathology cases at both VUMC and the Nashville VA Medical Center. Her research interests include molecular mechanisms of and risk factors for neoplasia in vulnerable patient populations, improving diagnostic accuracy in dermatopathology, and improving access to dermatologic care. She is also particularly fond of resident education and strives to continually sharpen her teaching and diagnostic skills.
