Wenliang Song, MD, MTR, FNLA
Assistant Professor of Medicine, Division of Cardiovascular Medicine
Dr. Song is a physician-scientist in the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine. His clinical interests include consultative and general cardiology with a particular interest in preventative cardiology and lipidology. He is board-certified in internal medicine, clinical lipidology, and board-eligible for cardiovascular medicine. He discovered and characterized two novel classes of oxidized bioactive lipids from omega-3 fatty acids, EPA, and DHA. He is currently funded by an NIH K08 grant studying the impact of dysfunctional HDL on platelet function and in vivo thrombosis. His research focus is on exploring the complex interplay of the bioactive lipids and lipoproteins such as HDL particles. Dr. Song also has interest in studying the protective mechanism of omega-3 fatty acids in the cardiovascular system, particularly in metabolic syndrome.
