Professional bio

Cecilia P. Chung, MD, MPH, is a physician-scientist with training in rheumatology, clinical pharmacology, and pharmacoepidemiology. Her laboratory is funded by R01 awards from NIAMS and NIGMS. Following her training in Peru and Canada, she earned an M.P.H. degree from Vanderbilt University  and completed internship, internal medicine residency and the clinical part of her rheumatology fellowship at Johns Hopkins University. After Johns Hopkins, Dr. Chung returned to Vanderbilt University to complete the research oriented part of her fellowship and was recruited to join the faculty at Vanderbilt in 2012.

Dr. Chung's research is focused on (1) Pharmacoepidemiology, in the area of comparative safety; (2) Pharmacogenetics of immunosuppressant agents; and (3) Clinical research, in the area of cardiovascular disease and other outcomes in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus and rheumatoid arthritis.
