Mahsima Shabani, MD, MPH, is an internal medicine resident at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. After graduating from MD-MPH combined program in 2019, she joined Johns Hopkins Cardiovascular Department for Post-Doctoral Research Fellowship. The focus of her research was genetic backgrounds of patients with extreme phenotypes found in cardiac imaging modalities. During her fellowship, she coauthored over 15 papers, with six first author publications.
Dr. Shabani joined Dr. Ben Shoemaker’s lab in 2023, with a focus on genetic evaluation of patient population referred to the Vanderbilt Atrial Fibrillation Precision Medicine Clinic. She presented one-year result of this clinic in Heart Rhythm Society conference 2024, and was awarded the Eric N. Prystowsky Early Career Researcher award and Cardiac EP Society Young Investigator Award.
