In the Cahill lab, our goal is to identify new and personalized treatment options for asthma. Our clinical protocols are developed with a focus on subtypes of adult onset asthma.
Metabolic Impact on Adult Asthma
In this active clinical study, we are evaluating the impact of metabolic dysfunction, defined by elevated blood glucose and insulin resistance, on disease severity in asthma. We are collecting blood, urine, nasal and sputum samples from our study population and comparing them among metabolically healthy, pre-diabetic and diabetic subjects. This is an observational study.
Nasal Polyps
The Cahill lab, in collaboration with our rhinology colleagues, is processing nasal polyp tissue from patients undergoing surgery for chronic rhinosinusitis, allergic fungal rhinosinusitis and aspirin exacerbated respiratory disease.
