Working to understand and promote healthy outcomes of people aging with HIV in the Americas
With the success of antiretroviral therapy, people living with HIV (PWH) are living longer. However, getting older with HIV often occurs with high burden of co-morbidities (including certain cancers), polypharmacy, and geriatric syndromes such as frailty.
Older adults with HIV are an important population in settings around the world. Our group seeks to understand the contributors to long-term outcomes of PWH in the Americas through epidemiological and translational research. In collaboration with researchers in the US and Latin America, our lab leverages observational data to investigate the determinants and patterns of health outcomes of PWH across the lifespan, ultimately to improve clinical care and outcomes.
