Cardiovascular Research Day 2023 took place on Friday, December 1, 2023, with notable contributions from the DeFilippis Lab. Kirolos Michael and Alexander Landry, two current medical school standouts working within the DeFilippis Lab, presented on the topic of "Assessment of Myocardial Injury in the Emergency Department of an Urban Academic Hospital." Their research holds significant potential for easing overcrowding in the emergency room at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in the near future. With a high-sensitivity troponin assay set to arrive at VUMC in 2024, their work aims to streamline processes, reduce wait time, and optimize resources in emergency care. The DeFilippis Lab takes immense pride in the dedication and expertise showcased by these two individuals. As we applaud their accomplishments, we eagerly anticipate witnessing the trajectory of their careers and research in the years to come.
