In the Ferguson Lab, we're interested in the interactions between genetic and environmental factors in disease development. In particular, we focus on functional genomics and clinical translation in cardiometabolic and inflammatory diseases, including diabetes, and cardiovascular disease. Current research projects include:
-
Studying the role of alpha-aminoadipic acid (2-AAA) in the development of diabetes and atherosclerosis.
-
Genomics and metabolomics of complex disease.
-
The interaction between diet, the microbiome, and the metabolome in cardiometabolic risk.
