Ariel Thorson is a Vanderbilt MD/PhD student who joined the Kirabo Lab in 2025. She graduated cum laude from Vanderbilt University with a bachelor's in biomedical engineering and a minor in chemistry. During her undergraduate years, she worked with the Jacobson lab, where she studied pancreatic islet electrophysiology. She is passionate about cardiometabolic research, which perfectly complements her clinical interest in adult endocrinology. She is currently studying how estrogens and androgen-deprivation modify cardiovascular disease risk in biological males through lipid and glucose metabolism dysregulation.
