Professional bio

Khaled Abdel-Kader, MD, researches quality of life in chronic kidney disease (CKD), quality of care of non-dialysis dependent CKD, health information technology, and predictive modeling. His prior work includes characterizing individualized quality of life, symptom burdens, and patient health outcome priorities in advanced CKD. He also co-leads a pragmatic cluster randomized controlled trial examining population health management to improve CKD care delivery in the primary care setting.

Dr. Abdel-Kader completed his undergraduate training at Washington University before pursuing his medical degree at UMDNJ-Robert Wood Johnson (now Rutgers Medical School). He completed his residency in internal medicine and chief residency at Brown University School of Medicine before specializing in nephrology at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. In addition, he has a master’s in medical education and is a doctoral candidate in clinical and translational science.

Dr. Abdel-Kader is board certified in internal medicine and nephrology and maintains an active clinical nephrology practice.
