Ormseth Lab

Research in the Ormseth Lab

The lab of Dr. Michelle Ormseth primarily studies:

  • Small RNAs as biomarkers and modifiers of disease in patients with rheumatic diseases
  • Cardiovascular disease in patients with rheumatic diseases

In the area of small RNAs, we have special interest in microbial small RNAs as effectors molecules linking microbiome to health and inflammation.

In the area of cardiovascular disease, we examine non-traditional cardiovascular risk factors and are interested in drug repurposing to reduce cardiovascular risk in patients with rheumatoid arthritis and systemic lupus erythematosus.
