Brief Description

Gulnara was born and raised in Turkmenistan and first came to the United States as a high school exchange student. Gulnara really enjoyed her year in Kansas and decided to return to the US for college. She earned a B.S. in Biology from Wichita State University. After working for one year at the Via Christi Hospital Emergency Room, Gulnara decided that research is her real passion, and she came to Vanderbilt to work in Dr. Philip’s lab. She wants to gain research experience in immunology and cancer biology and plans to apply for graduate school in the biomedical sciences. Gulnara is fluent in English, Turkmen, and Russian, and in her free time, she likes to go hiking and explore new places.
