Research Projects
New Ideas
The New IDEAS Study is a U.S. research project examining the impact of amyloid PET imaging on the management of Medicare beneficiaries with mild cognitive impairment or dementia, focusing on populations with limited representation. With 7,000 participants and FDA-approved tracers, the study aims to enhance treatment decisions, health outcomes, and establish a biorepository for future research.
Recruitment Innovation Center (RIC)
The Recruitment Innovation Center (RIC) at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, supported by a $14 million NIH grant, focuses on developing and implementing innovative methods to improve participant recruitment and retention in clinical trials. As part of the Trial Innovation Network, RIC aims to address barriers to trial completion.
Community Partnerships to Advance Science for Society (ComPASS)
ComPASS is an NIH program that funds community organizations to create and test health programs. These programs aim to improve health outcomes and ensure that all communities they serve have meaningful opportunities to achieve better health. Community organizations work with academic researchers to design interventions that address social factors affecting health, well-being, and quality of life. ComPASS also provides resources to help these organizations maintain their programs over time and apply for future research funding.
The Community Engagement Studio (CES)
The Community Engagement Studio offers researchers input from patients, caregivers, healthcare providers, and community members. A researcher-selected panel of experts provides feedback to enhance the research's planning, design, implementation, and dissemination.
Southeast Collaborative | Health Excellence Action Network
The Southeast Collaborative for Innovative Solutions to Chronic Diseases is an NIH-funded initiative led by Vanderbilt University Medical Center, Meharry Medical College, and the University of Miami. Launched in 2022, the Collaborative addresses chronic conditions such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease, obesity, and other related health issues that are prevalent in the Southeastern United States. By utilizing data science, technology, and partnerships within the community, the Collaborative develops multi-level, evidence-based strategies aimed at improving the prevention, management, and long-term outcomes of chronic diseases in the region.
