Nikhil Khankari, PhD, is an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Epidemiology within the Department of Medicine at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

Dr. Khankari's research interests are examining the role of nutrition, genetics, and the interaction between these two exposures as it relates to cancer incidence and survival. For his dissertation work at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Dr. Khankari focused on examining the relationship among dietary intake of polyunsaturated fatty acids, genetic susceptibility, and breast cancer incidence and survival. As a K99 awardee at Vanderbilt, Dr. Khankari will examine the role of polyunsaturated fatty acids on colorectal tumor risk using the Mendelian randomization approach.
