Kaushik Amancherla, MD, is a translational physician-scientist and transplant cardiologist with a research interest in improving heart transplant outcomes using systems biology approaches. His research leverages multi-omics to better understand transplant immunology and cardiometabolic health.
His research utilizes techniques, including genomics, transcriptomics and proteomics to better understand immunologic sequelae after heart transplantation, especially chronic rejection (i.e., cardiac allograft vasculopathy; CAV). An additional focus of his research program is cardiometabolic health, particularly in the solid-organ transplant population.
Clinically, Dr. Amancherla's interests lie in taking care of patients with advanced heart failure and those requiring heart transplantation and/or mechanical circulatory support.
Dr. Amancherla completed medical school at the University of Illinois-Chicago and did his internal medicine residency in the Osler Medical Training Program at The Johns Hopkins Hospital. He subsequently completed his general cardiology training at Vanderbilt University Medical Center before joining faculty in the Department of Medicine’s Division of Cardiovascular Medicine in 2022.
