Sangeeta Nair, DVM, MS, is a Staff Scientist in the Department of Radiology at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Nair's role with the Translational and Clinical Cardiovascular Research Center is to contribute towards the development of automated methods for disease diagnosis like hepatic steatosis using deep learning techniques and quantitative biomarkers for cardiovascular diseases using CT and MR images.
Nair analyzes MR and CT images with a burden of cardiovascular diseases, diabetes and atherosclerosis. Specific areas include: measurement of coronary blood vessels, coronary plaque, pericardial adipose tissue and skeletal muscle adiposity as in psoas and paraspinal muscles. Nair's previous experience includes analyzing cytokine responses with virus induced ear infections and identifying tools to reduce uterine leiomyomas.
