Professional bio

Jennifer Peek is a MSTP candidate and Cell and Developmental Biology graduate student. She earned her B.S. in Biology and Economics from the College of William and Mary in 2018. She then completed a post-baccalaureate program at the NIH before joining the Vanderbilt MSTP in 2019. After two years of medical school, she joined the Woodard lab in August 2021. Jen is co-advised by Dr. Matthew Wilson. Previous work focused on molecular mechanisms of diabetes, yeast genetics, and malaria pathogenesis.

Peek is interested in creating models of kidney stone disease from human stem cells and designing therapies to test in these models. She has experience with molecular biology, mice work, stem cell culture, cell and gene therapy design, and organoid differentiation. Jen has presented at multiple conferences and co-authored 5 manuscripts, including two first author publications.
