Yuliya is originally from Lugansk, Ukraine. She received her Bachelor of Science in Operations Management from East-Ukrainian National University named after V. Dal'. She joined the Zinkel lab in 2016 and has been supporting research through management of the mouse colony, including breeding, weaning, PCR genotyping of 25 mouse lines and 20 different genes, and detailed record-keeping. She assists with renewals of animal use protocols, ensures compliance with IACUC guidelines, and acts as a purchasing agent, handling supply orders and inventory management. Her role combines oversight to keep both the research and regulatory aspects of the lab running smoothly and efficiently. Outside of the lab, she enjoys staying active and spending quality time with the family playing soccer/pickleball, travelling for kids' karate tournaments, and tackling small DIY projects around the house.
