Rosemarie Dudenhofer, MD, is an interstitial lung disease clinician with additional expertise in sleep medicine. She treats ILD patients at Vanderbilt and is involved in clinical trials.
Her research interests focus on idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis and sleep-disordered breathing. These interests led her to explore the relationship between the two; she subsequently studied hospitalized interstitial lung disease patients who also had a diagnosis of obstructive sleep apnea. This project has fostered her continued interest in sleep medicine following her outpatient sleep medicine rotation while in fellowship.
She received her baccalaureate degree in biology and biochemistry from Queens College, New York. She entered medical school at Downstate Medical Center (SUNY), Brooklyn, New York, and received her MD degree in 2008. She did her residency at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia, and did her fellowship training at the University of Michigan.
Dr. Dudenhofer is board-certified in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Medicine, Critical Care Medicine and Sleep Medicine. She completed a fellowship in neurology and sleep medicine at the University of Michigan, following a three-year fellowship in pulmonary medicine and critical care at that same institution.
Dr. Dudenhofer is a member of the American Thoracic Society (ATS) and the Society of Critical Care Medicine, two of the most prestigious organizations in her field. She serves on a subcommittee regarding sleep and respiratory neurobiology web education for the ATS. She has consistently participated in teaching and mentoring throughout her academic career, has given talks and lectures throughout her fellowship, and has publications in well-recognized journals in her field.
