Welcome to the Vanderbilt O’Brien Kidney Center (VOKC). The mission of the VOKC is to provide technical and conceptual support to understand mechanisms and identify potential therapies for acute and chronic kidney disease.
The services provided by VOKC are designed to:
- Help the scientific community have the right support and tools, and to select the right animal model
- Provide statistical analysis and clinical study design to facilitate innovative research
- Translate discoveries into personalized care to prevent, diagnose and cure kidney disease

To achieve these goals, VOKC supports four biomedical research cores
In addition, the Center supports a Pilot and Feasibility Grants Program and an Education and Outreach Program.
The goals of these programs are to:
- Foster new and innovative kidney-related research
- Provide an educational platform to enhance the study of kidney disease
- Publicize information about services available through the VOKC
- Provide information about kidney disease to patients and other interested members of the community
