The Center for Drug Safety and Immunology is unique in its scope and mission by merging human immunology, drug safety, and personalized medicine. CDSI also promotes the development and integration of multiple omic technologies.

Atrial fibrillation (known as AF or AFib) is the most common cardiac arrhythmia, and most patients are diagnosed at age 70 or older. But our research has shown that for some younger patients, AFib can be the first sign of a genetic heart disease. These younger patients may develop other serious cardiac disorders like heart failure or life-threatening ventricular arrhythmias.  

The major focus of the Bock-Pozzi-Zent laboratories is to understand the mechanisms whereby cells use integrins and other receptors including their downstream effectors to stick to the extracellular matrix (ECM), adapt the cellular response to the environment, and dynamically change cell structure.
