Professional bio

Beatrice P. Concepcion, MD, is an Associate Professor of Medicine in the Division of Nephrology and Hypertension within the Department of Medicine at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

Her practice is focused on the care of patients who have received kidney transplants. This includes managing immunosuppressive medications, post-transplant complications and overall health maintenance. She works closely with the rest of our transplant team and with colleagues in other specialties to ensure that patients receive the best possible care for their complex medical problems at all times.

Dr. Concepcion also has clinics dedicated to evaluating patients who have chronic kidney disease and are interested in receiving a kidney transplant. She spends time educating patients about the risks and benefits of kidney transplantation and oversees their transplant work-up with the goal of achieving the best possible outcome. Dr. Concepcion participates in several multi-center trials which investigate new drugs that could potentially improve outcomes for kidney transplant patients in the future.

Her research is focused on increasing access to kidney transplantation and improving clinical and patient-centered outcomes of kidney transplant recipients. She is actively involved in teaching medical students, residents and nephrology fellows, and they join her in clinic and in rounds learning how to care for patients with kidney disease and kidney transplants.
