Professional bio
Devika Nair, MD, MSCI, conducts research focused on understanding the pathogenesis and determinants of frailty and symptom burden among chronologically and physiologically older adults with chronic kidney disease. She aims to improve health outcomes in this group through multi-level (individual, health systems, community-based), multi-component behavioral interventions and models of care delivery. She is currently supported by a NIDDK K23 career development award.

Dr. Nair also works to enhance the quality of serious illness communication between older adults with kidney disease and their nephrologists. She is actively involved in an institution-wide initiative to improve the quality and timeliness of serious illness conversations across subspecialty populations and facilitates a serious illness communication skills elective for nephrology trainees in partnership with her palliative medicine colleagues.
