Ravi Shah, MD, is the director of Clinical and Translational Research in Cardiology. His group's research interest is in metabolic health and prevention, particularly obesity and cardiometabolic disease. His group has published work in the use of molecular and phenotypic characterization in diabetes, obesity, early changes in cardiometabolic risk and function (including cardiorespiratory fitness and imaging parameters), their association with circulating biomarkers of disease reporters (e.g., ex-RNAs, metabolites and proteins), and their impact on long-term cardiovascular disease (CVD).

He has had experience in multi-OMICs efforts across multiple NIH cohort studies, including the CARDIA study, Framingham Heart Study, multiple NIDDK-based studies of nutrition and insulin resistance, and studies on exercise and cardiovascular health, with funded projects in epidemiologic studies and studies on prevention in children. Dr. Shah's group has experience in RNA transcriptional analyses (including single cell analyses) and organizes cardiovascular phenotyping in the EDIC study, serving on the new executive committee of the Framingham Heart Study, and a member of TOPMed. He is currently the Associate Director of Bioinformatics/Study Design for the Proteomics Core.
