Kedir Turi, PhD, has unique and sought-after training and expertise in systems biology and applied quantitative methods. His long-term research goal is to understand the mechanisms through which in utero and early life environmental exposures contribute to the development of childhood asthma and allergy syndromes. He is particularly interested in understanding the effect of in utero and early life exposure on the developing metabolic and immune systems. He seeks to combine multivariate statistics and System. S. modeling to understand the pathways to disease developments.

As a postdoctoral fellow with the Center for Asthma Research and under the mentorship of Dr. Tina V. Hartert, Dr. Turi’s research focused on identifying and understanding phenotypes and endotypes of childhood asthma and allergic syndromes through the integration of high-dimensional data of child immune response and metabolomics. In 2023, he became a Research Professor of Medicine at Indiana University, Bloomington, School of Public Health.

Dr. Turi received his baccalaureate degree from Haramaya University, Ethiopia. He earned masters’ degrees in markets and consumer sciences from Wageningen University, The Netherlands, and applied economics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He received his PhD in Community Health from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
