Caroline P. Cone, MSN, APRN, PMHCNS, BC, is an Assistant in Medicine in the Division of General Internal Medicine and Public Health in the Department of Medicine at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. She is a nurse psychotherapist who has worked in the field of mental health for over 30 years.
Cone received her BSN from Calvin College (now Calvin University) and her MSN from Vanderbilt University. She taught psychiatric nursing at both the graduate and undergraduate levels for 14 years at Vanderbilt School of Nursing with a short stint at Belmont University School of Nursing. She previously served as the program director in a psychiatric hospital providing care for children with psychiatric disorders and their families. In 2006, she began a private therapy practice in the Nashville/Franklin area working with individuals, couples, and families around issues related to anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, substance abuse, eating disorders, and sexual abuse/health. In 2010, Cone began working as a faculty member in the Center for Professional Health teaching in the courses that are offered to physicians around the country. She is passionate about health and wellness for healthcare providers, and physicians in particular.
Cone holds a Registered Nursing License and an Advanced Practice Nursing License, and she is professionally certified as a Psychiatric and Mental Health Clinical Nurse Specialist by the American Nurse's Credentialing Center.
